At one stage Pakistan were struggling at 142-8 with India firmly on top but an unbeaten 68-run partnership for the ninth wicket between Misbah and Mohammad Sami kept the hosts at bay. Captain Anil Kumble topped the wicket list for the hosts with figures of 3-38 from 20 overs, while Zaheer Khan utilised the conditions in the morning to finish with 2-36 from 16 overs at stumps.
